European Commission & DKE Chair, Secretary & Convenor Forum

The Harmonized Standards System

DKE invites its Technical Body Chairs, Secretaries and Convenors in IEC and CENELEC to a forum on the Harmonized Standards System’s together with the European Commission.

When and where?

5th July 2023, 9:00 – 17:00, Congress Park Hanau

Who will participate?

German Technical Body Chairs, Secretaries and Convenors in IEC and CENELEC that are involved in drafting Harmonized Standards.

What is it about?

European legislation and standards are closely linked. For a better understanding, it is necessary to explain and understand various terms and connections of harmonized European standards and directives or regulations.
Europe's goal, which has existed for decades, is to expand the European single market and strengthen free trade. The decrease of trade barriers is of great importance at this point. For this purpose, it is necessary that products which are traded in Europe meet the same basic requirements. Therefore, they are brought to market quicker and safer.
Essential safety requirements are defined by the European Commission within European Directives or Regulations. These essential requirements are then specified with harmonized European Standards. What this means and how it works will be explained in this Forum by representatives of the European Commission, the HAS Contractor and HAS Consultant.
